Will hospitals look down upon my LTC experience?

I'm a fairly new nurse. Been working in a nursing home for almost two years. I've always heard that hospitals will not hire me if I stay too long. I'd like to work in pediatrics someday and I'm just wondering how long is too long to stay in this area...
