About DarknTwistyERRN

DarknTwistyERRN specializes in Emergency/Trauma.

RN who loves being in the ED at a busy hospital. Enjoying spending my days perfecting the combination of restraints and B-52s, pondering how untreated pain x 14 days became an emergency today at 2pm, and advocating for licensing exams prior to reproductive capabilities. Seriously though, I work with an amazing team of docs, nurses, EMTs, PCAs, and RTs who stay focused on the patient and keep their sense of humor.

  5. What's your triage protocol?

Our techs are getting vitals and weights as patients check in. If we're slammed at triage and have lots of rooms open (and RNs aren't bogged with critical patients), we'll pull to semi-full. We try to avoid sending patients back untriaged after abo...
  6. New Rule: No work bags allowed in ER

At work (busy ER) while moving a coworkers bag off the counter in the nursing station, a nurse was cut by a scalpel which was in the bag. Now, my first question was, "Why did she have a scalpel in her bag?" I then wondered, "Why did he have his han...
  7. Clinicals - Night Shift - Help!

I'm starting my senior clinical precepting and my preceptor works only Tue/Wed/Thu nights (7p-7a) iat the regional Level I Trauma hospital. My only day of lecture is Wednesdays (8a-3p). I'll be working only one night a week when I have an exam. An...
