  1. End of life liquid meds vs crushed

OP, I just want to say how terribly sorry I am for the way your sisters passing was dealt. I myself am dealing with a sister (only one) who has a terminal diagnosis. I am so fearful that her death will be treated the same way. My advice is to file as...
  2. could get fired!

    Great pink Floyd song!
  3. Struggling - its not fair.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. I am sorry, but I have no other words to express. It's not fair, how cruel and unfair life can be at times.
  4. 5-year-old chooses heaven over hospital

My thoughts on this are, the parents are coping with guilt of no longer providing medial care to prolong the inevitable death of their precious child. By letting their 5 year old make the choice, it won't be the parents making the decision. Disconti...
  5. 8/22 What I learned this week....

Ooh I love my old over weight boxer. I don't think I could have handled 2 boxers with all the spazy energy they have. Boxers are such awesome dogs, I'm sure you will enjoy raising those 2 beautiful fur babies.
  6. This week, I have learned..... (8/1)

Help moving my first child of 3 out of the house and into her first apartment was more draining physically, rather than mentally. I was strong and did not cry. She did text me first this morning, just to say hi. Now that made me cry, she misses me as...
  7. I feel your pain and I'm very sorry to hear about this recent injury. I took suffer from RSD in my BLE and lumbar area. I also have moderate to severe RA to just about every joint in my body. I'm only 40. I had to leave nursing in 2011. The ups and d...
  8. My own personal hell.

I am so sorry for your loss. It will get better with time. Give yourself time to grieve and seek out support. You don't have to go through this alone. MissyRN
  9. suspended for doing the right thing...

OP, I am very sorry that you had to ask to be removed from this child's school nurse. You seemed to really cared for this child. I'm sorry if you have felt attacked in this thread. I have learned so much from this thread. I thought I had a pretty go...
  10. hiding piercing holes?

Or you can just leave it be. I got a job in the ER fresh out of school. Piercings, tattoos and all. Even worked with several other nurses that looked the same as me. Some places are more understanding (chill) when it comes to that. Some are not. It's...
  11. It takes a lot to make me angry.

You are such a awesome husband to stand up for your wife that way. Not every man would do that. Pat yourself on the back, you did good.
  12. Help? I regret this career choice?

Most out patient same day surgery centers have weekends off. The hours may not be 9-5, but the nurses generally only work an 8 hour shift. Maybe something to look into. Most doctor offices around my parts only hire MA's, which is truly pathetic.
  13. Wishing we all were understood

Very well written. I will have DH read this. Even though I am a ER nurse, you detailed so many of the same situations I see on any given shift. Maybe your words will give some insight to my husband & family. Thank you.
  14. Increase in Autism Diagnosis

My son was diagnosed with ASD a little more than 15 years ago. He is textbook Aspberger's. We know that my SIL is autistic, so we feel confident in the notion that the "autism gene" was passed down. Back about 15 years ago, ( lived in CA) we were inv...
  15. Hospitals and diversion

Diversion??? There is no such word according to my facility.
