  1. UTEP AGACNP Fall 2022

Has anyone else applied for this program? If so, where are you located? Trying to get a head start on locating preceptors and it's been rough! FYI, I'm in San Antonio, TX.
  2. I totally get that. Just focus on establishing your career more now...then later you'll have no doubt about what you want to do. Good luck to you!
  3. Time or financial constraints is a good reason to give them. Also, if you're just unsure, you can be honest and tell them your doubts. You can always go back later for a DNP, but keep in mind most programs are at least 2 years.

Find your preceptors early! Hopefully you're not having a hard time with that. Good luck!
  5. UTEP PNP CLINICALS

Hi! I know this post is over a year old, but I just wanted to mention that banking clinical hours is no longer allowed at UTEP. And this is coming directly from Dr. Singh, who heads the FNP program there. I'm not sure why they did away with it. I...
  6. Primary Care/IM: Ask me anything.

I actually read that most Urgent Care centers prefer FNP's because they are able to treat children as well as adults, including pregnant women. Overall, I think FNP's are much more marketable for Urgent Care and Fast Track ER's. It's a great mix of...
  7. Primary Care/IM: Ask me anything.

This is a great question because I worry about this for myself. I have an ICU background and studying to be an FNP. This thought has been on my mind for many months and I hope I don't find myself regretful that I didn't pursue acute care. However,...
  8. lying about clinical hours

I agree. I'm an FNP student and working my butt off to learn as much as I can in order to be prepared to be a competent practitioner. This person is undermining our profession and is likely to continue taking shortcuts when caring for patients. I ...
  9. Is ANCC easier than AANP?

I hope this still applies 5 yrs later. I'm trying to decide which certification exam to take, and it's another needless headache trying to decide. Thanks for the info!!
  10. San Antonio FNP Student

Thank you, MikeFNPC...I will definitely keep trying! I've put out many calls and waiting for multiple call backs from office managers around the city. I will also try WellMed. I truly appreciate your reply.
  11. Looking for FNP/MD/DO preceptor in San Antonio

I'm currently in the FNP program at UTEP and still looking for preceptors in San Antonio. I've tried to join SANAP, but I'm always put on a wait list and nothing opens up in time to attend meetings. I don't begin clinicals until Summer, 2017. Any rec...
  12. San Antonio FNP Student

I start clinicals in the Summer of 2017 and continue thru Winter, 2017 and I'm still looking for FNP preceptors. I've tried to attend SANAP meetings but I'm always put on a wait list and nothing ever opens up. Are there other preceptors you can recom...
  13. I'm fairly new to San Antonio and I'm scrambling to locate preceptors for my clinicals beginning Summer, 2017. I'm hoping someone can recommend a few FNP preceptors. I really appreciate it. It's competitive out here with UTHSC students!
  14. UTEP program and preceptors

I'm currently in the FNP program at UTEP. They have been amazing. I had to take some time off from the program after I had my baby, but I'm back in and everything's been great. My only complaint about the program is having to find my own preceptor...

creyes97: Is there some way I can send you a private message? I can give you a good idea of the interview questions they use.
