About RN_24_yrs_plus

RN_24_yrs_plus has 24 years experience and specializes in Oncology, Gerontology, Management.

I started at the age of 16, becoming certified as a nursing assistant (C.N.A.) and working in a local long-term care facility. After eight years of that, I became a Licensed Practical Nurse (1996) and worked in home care taking care of clients with brain and spinal cord injuries. I also continued working in long-term care.

I graduated with my Associates in nursing in May, 2006. I worked in a long-term acute care (LTAC) unit for two years in Michigan, then moved to Maryland and started working as an Oncology staff nurse at a local hospital known as Anne Arundel Medical Center in January, 2009. I accepted a position as a full time charge nurse on the Oncology unit in April, 2010, though had filled in for this position frequently since December, 2009. In April, 2011, I accepted with great pride, an honorary invitation to join The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, Delta Omicron Chapter. In April, 2011, I accepted an offer of becoming the Assistant Director of Nursing of the Transitional Care Unit through Genesis HealthCare. I was promoted to Assistant Director of Nursing of the facility in June, 2013. As a dedicated employee I join other health care professionals in achieving our mission to "Improve the lives we touch through the delivery of high quality health care and every day compassion." I graduated from the University of Phoenix with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing in September, 2010. I graduated with my Masters in both Nursing and in Health Administration through the University of Phoenix in December, 2012. I have already begun my search for a Ph.D program to start late 2013 or early 2014. My love of the medical field comes from my own personal experiences, starting at birth of being born without an esophagus leading to over 30 surgeries as well as many various procedures and tests (which has since been resolved). It is certainly beneficial to see both sides of the field. Specialties: Oncology, Gerontology, Management
