  1. What's the nicest thing anyone has ever said or done for you?

"I'm glad you are my friend." -I used to read a resident's letters/cards to her. She was blind and had trouble opening the letters, so I would offer to do it for her. She was a bit of a diva, so most of the time she didn't say thank you. When she sai...
  2. ATI Testing for BSN Students

Personally, I find that the online practice tests are very helpful. We are required to obtain a Level 2 on each proctored exam. The practice tests help you understand what kinds of questions they ask and what areas ATI focuses on. In my program, the ...
  3. Adult Health/Med Surg

We have Nursing Care of the Acute and Chronically Ill Adult (Med-Surg) 1, 2, & 3. They are each 7.5 weeks long. Med-Surg 1 is taken in the 2nd semester. Med-Surg 2 & 3 are taken in the last semester.
  4. why are you going the LPN route?

I chose this route so I could work while pursuing the RN program. Unfortunately, you get used to the decent paycheck and this can derail you from going back to school immediately. I graduated and passed boards in 2011. I am currently in a transition ...
  5. Did you work during your bridge program?

If you are able to, I would recommend going PRN. That is what I did and I am very happy with my choice. I have more time to focus on my schoolwork. I am doing very well. I have 2 other friends that are also LPNs and also in the program. Both of them ...
  6. Why did you choose nursing?

Up until my high school years, I was positive the only job that could bring me satisfaction was being an elementary teacher. That all changed when my dad, mom and twin brothers were in an automobile accident in 2006. The crash claimed my dad's life a...
  7. YouTube Nurses and Nursing Students. My Top 10 List.

Thank you for posting this. I had already discovered NurseMendoza, Heatherheartsnursing, & Nurse Nacole and I am looking forward to subscribing to the other channels you have recommended!
  8. I'm a Hispanic LPN. I have been working for 2 years as a nurse and 1 year as an aide before that. I live in a predominantly Caucasian area. I have never had trouble with coworkers or managers/supervisors. As long as you are a team player, treat peopl...
  9. New Lpn wanting to start bridge program asap but scared!

I think it's normal to feel apprehensive about returning to school, especially having some not-so-fun experiences as a new LPN. I graduated 2 years ago and I am starting a transition to RN program this January. I actually wish I had gone back right a...
  10. LPN or RN for nursing home

I would recommend just taking it over (if you have to). If you got this far already, just go for it. Even if you do have a burning desire for LTC, you can still work there as a RN. Also, the pay will be much better as a RN in LTC.
  11. In my area, fairly quickly. I never had trouble getting hired in a nursing home, even when I had no experience. Usually less than 3 weeks. It also depends on the facility and the turnover rate.
  12. Is there really a future for new LPN's??

I don't know about the whole state, but I know in Washington County (Maryland) they phased LPNs out of hospitals. They rarely even hire ADNs. LPNs were also phased out in Franklin County hospitals (Pennsylvania). They were given the option to do the ...
  13. Advice on LPN Jobs

I think it depends on what kind of jobs you are interested in... LTC, school health, agency, etc.
