  1. 10 Worst Employee Excuses For Missing Work

Ok, but hungover really is sick. Probably shouldn't have been out drinking if you know you have to work, but I certainly wouldn't want a hungover nurse, and wouldn't want to try nursing with a hangover. Just sayin'.
  2. 21 Things you never mention at a hospital job interview

Love this post! I completely agree with every point except #21. My dream job is being paid to stay home! Who needs the pressure of running the company? LOL
  3. Healthcare for All: How Obamacare Impacts Nursing

In response to the post from Canada: I just wanted to point out that this system is still not actually universal healthcare. It is still prohibitively expensive to obtain care unless you qualify for Medicaid, our low income HC system. Insurance pr...
  4. Point 1: Since when is an incorporated chain store that is publicly traded considered a "family-owned" business? Last time I checked, this scenario does not exist. If you are publicly traded, you are owned by the stockholders. Glad we established ...
  5. What "bad habits" are LTC nurses known for??

"unfamiliarity with BON guidelines and nurse practice act especially in reference to iv therapy" Unfortunately, LTC management encourages and expects LPN's to act outside their scope of practice when it comes to IVT and admit assessments. They have ...

I'm somehow always surprised when RN's think they should be making a lot more than LPN's in LTC/SNF. They don't pay nurses based on which license they hold, at least not in KC, rather the going rate based on experience. Floor RN's in these facilitie...
  8. Another burnt out nurse - questioning everything. . .

I'm a new nurse and already have that problem. The answer for me was to go with 8 hour shifts, so I can see my kids every day for more than an hour.
  9. Is nursing really that bad of a career choice?

RE: Become a CNA first; that's great advice as far as being able to supervise and relate to aides. It will give you an idea of what it's like to care for people, but will not prepare you to be or think like a nurse. It's a completely different ski...
  10. Thanks! Georgia sounds good, maybe a mini-vacation after the test.
  11. Hi, I would like to know if there is a CNPE testing site in the Kansas City, Missouri area. I tried to find out on Excelsior's website, but it won't let you see testing sites unless you are already eligible to take the test. I don't want to waste m...
