About julius.alle

Hello to all!, My name is Julius, You know, like Cesar, except I'm about 9 inches taller, 150 pounds heavier and 3 shades darker. My background is all over the place, kinda like an M Night Shyamalan movie, but not as terrible. In fact I love my life, and wouldn’t change any of it if given the chance! I started my career as a wide eyed, bushy tailed Police Officer in our Nations Capitol with dreams of saving the world and serving my community, and, the line to become a firefighter was way too long sooooo…..lol…but seriously it was something that I worked hard to achieve and something I always wanted to try. I did that for about 3 years and decided (with a little help from the department,…it’s a looooong story) that a career change was in order. I worked security in the private sector for a bit even managed to land a director of security gig for a swanky Hotel chain, but quickly realized that the corporate world of meetings and million dollar budgets was as unforgiving as police work and just as mentally draining. After bouncing around from government job to private sector job I finally landed in a security capacity that I actually enjoyed waking up every day to go to. It was of all things a hospital security job. I’m not a huge fan of hospitals but the pay was decent and the benefits were great, I have a wife and a 3 year old boy so free health care and 30 days of PTO a year along with other amazing benefits were a no brainer for me. We did so many things and we worked so closely with the medical staff; Doctors, nurses, PA’s and so on. I started to admire one field in particular, can you guess which filed it is?? Hint, it rhymes with Curse….lol. It was just amazing to watch the nurse’s work in high stress situation, some handled the stress amazingly, others not so much, but I was shocked to find the latter was few and far between. I found myself wanting to know everything that was going on and why it needed to be done. I loved the morbid sense of humor that comes with working in a field like that and realized that it wasn’t a far cry from police work but people actually are happy to see you nearly 100% of the time. My calling was and always will be to help people and to serve which lead me to The Law enforcement field but I wasn’t a huge fan of some of the other things that came with it (again a long story). Nursing kinda just snuck up on me and kicked me in the sack and as I researched endless possibilities in the nursing field, I knew I had found my perfect fit. I’m currently taking classes to accomplish this goal, mostly pre recs and have taking a job working for the very school I attend, Tuition wavers rock!

Some times it's better to just let people who want to be in charge "be in charge" so the next time you have a combative patient who needs to be put in 4points make she the SPT is right there with you "guiding" you. I would ask him to show you how it'...

  4. Public's lack of knowledge about what nursing actually is

A good way to go insane is to worry about others perception of you and or your chosen field. When I was a Cop I was always the go to guy when someone got a ticket or jury duty, I learned that just saying: "I'm (insert profession here) for 'X' amount ...

That's wonderful! You are a shining example of what hard work and diligence can accomplish. I wouldn't worry too much about negative people in the field, you just gotta ask yourself, if these people are saying it's so bad, why in the hell are they st...
  8. Nurses are getting younger...

hmmm I think every field is getting younger, it's a cycle. The young get old, the Old retire and are replaced by the young....and it repeats.... not unless you've discovered the key to immortality it's just natural right?
