I attended the University of Texas at Arlington when I was in my 20's. At the end of my Junior year, I found out I was pregnant and gave birth to a premature son. I had to drop out during my senior year as I was single again with no child support. I raised my son "against all odds" working 2 jobs as I didnt recieve child support. It was only by the grace of God we were able to make it! Fast forward 23 years I decided one day to finally finish. I found out many of my science credits were no longer valid. I decided to attend LPN school then do an LPN to RN program. I was intimidated by my age...that was short lived as I realized wisdom comes with age. I graduated with honors then went on to become an RN through Excelsior's LPN-RN program. Graduated with a 3.85 GPA and am now enrolled in a RN-BSN program. Ive done a little LTAC as well as home health. I love the personalibility of home care. though it does have its
drawbacks. I'm getting ready to do my first travel assignment as my son is grown and in college. And btw a 4 lb 3 oz 32 week premie is now 6'5" 200 lb handsome young man. I love nursing!

I actually started as an advocate; doing gratis work for clients. Yes I like the work very much; however have hit a legal snag. I wouldn't do it. Too many loopholes.
My pinning ceremony meant so much to me. It was more than an award ceremony....it was a celebration of a life long dream which came true at age 44! All the hard work, sacrifices and prayers had finally came to fruition!
Hello Everyone, I've been working for Ohio Medicaid Waiver as an independent contractor for 4 years, 3 as an LPN and now 1 as an RN. Would like to know of experiences you've had in this field. The good, the bad and the ugly. Gwen

Hi Laura, Obamacare has already "borrowed" 700 billion for Medicare....just a down payment. There needs to be a solution outside of business as usual. Medicare if left unchecked will be bankrupt by 2016. There are more people than ever before on ...

Hi Everyone I am new here. First and foremost I am an Independent voter and a Registered Nurse. I have read the health care bill and it is scary at best. So many points to make. 1. It is socialized medicine 2. There is a "death panel" - a governme...
