I am working at my first job as a new lpn, at a correctional facility, and am making $20.50 an hour. This is for afternoon shift, which I hate. Pay will go down to $18.50 when/if I ever make it to days.

I felt exactly the same way last summer when I started LPN clinicals, and I am feeling the same way right now as I am getting ready to start RN clinicals. You are by no means alone! Everything always seems to have a way of working out in the end tho...

I think as far as competition, it depends on the hospital. When I did my L&D rotation last year, the hospital I was at had lots of openings. The nurses there told us that no one wanted L&D, so they had plenty of OT if they wanted it.

There is a store in Wabash called Shoe City, and they have scrubs, shoes...etc. That is about the only other place I know of, around here. Hope that helped!
