Lived all around the country. Took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. :o) Massage therapy school gave me the confidence to go back to school to become a CNM--I resisted becoming a nurse in the past because I didn't think I could handle the science. Considering I've gotten As and Bs in my science classes so far and made it through my first nursing semester with an A is proof that one can do well even at their "worst" subject.
While working as a massage therapist I took an extensive continuing education course that included pregnancy massage, postpartum massage, advanced perinatal massage, teaching infant massage, and a DONA doula and childbirth education class. This really peaked my interest in supporting natural-as-posssible births. I think it's a great way to empower mothers and get babies off to a good start.
