There is time to learn things once you get there. You spend plenty of time studying the gouge pack you get!! Good luck. Try not to be too nervous and most of all....have fun!

Officers rarely live on base and use 'possible hotel days' when transitioning into off-base housing. Not a true statement at all duty stations. Plenty of officers live on base at places other than Portsmouth.

My experience has been that no base will give you the time of day until you have some experience as an RN under your belt. Honestly don't recall if it was 1 or 2 years they required at Ft. Campbell

One of the best things I can tell you is to remember that whatever you take with you, you have to haul up 4 flights of stairs and you have to find a way to store it in your room! Very limited space! There are a ton of irons and ironing boards alrea...

You jump off the platform 2 at a time. Then you swim one at a time whichever stroke you choose. Then you do the clothing flotation (super easy, they coach you thru it), then the prone float. I don't recall treading water for the swim test.

What service are you going into Ajax? Just FYI, belvoir only has a small uniform shop with only army items. This is a joint facility but there is not a single navy item at this clothing store...I have to go to Bethesda for any uniform items!
