I think the differences in training is mainly medical school vs. Nursing school. MDA's learn more 'medicine' which helps them with H&P's if they have to do them. They are also good resources for medical advice, but I am the one sitting in the roo...
You don't need a BSN. Many schools like Mayo don't require one, but you will have to be strong in your sciences. I don't think an economics degree covers the science requirement, however.
