I get what you mean. It's not free but I know it costs about $40.00 per course through the ILC and night school. Adult school allows one to take about three courses per quad for a $40.00 fee plus a textbook deposit. I think getting PSW training helps...

Since you are a Canadian citizen, I would say U of C. Starting school is hard as it is without going through immigration/international student hurdles. Also it is considerably cheaper. Good luck!
I don't see why it would be an issue to do your homework during breaks. Every facility is different, patient needs are different and acuity levels are different so there very well maybe some downtime to complete some homework. It all depends.
