Yeah!! Congrats MSW!
I have an exam tomorrow and a project due Wed. and I haven't been able to concentrate thinking about not receiving the e-mail. But you all were right!! I totally jumped the gun!! A large white envelope just slid through my mail slot!!
One good thing about the mail slot in the door is that nobody had to see me sitting there all day!
Excited for those of you who received the e-mail but bummed that I didn't . I think this means I will be waiting for a small envelope. . . sad day. Keep us posted as your letters arrive!
It changed to ASAP. Have some people's changed to sent? This is stressing me out, I am ready to know now!!
Mine finally changed this morning!! Going crazy waiting for the mail!! I hope everyone will keep posting as their letters arrive.
Has everybody in the AGNP track seen a change? Mine is still the same!! Now freaking out about what this means!?! WHY!?!?!
Phew! Glad we clarified that because I might have had a MI if I had to wait another month!
I too am finishing up with prereqs. Mef, how is A&PII treating you? It seems like in my class we have an exam every week! Best of luck on your exams!
Flaneur-I am pretty sure that you are right about them doing interviews until the 15th. When I received my interview invite it actually said they would be interviewing Feb 2nd to Feb 15th. I would guess, however, that it depends on staffing available to do interviews. I know that I was rescheduled based on a conflict. If that happens to too many people I would think that might push it back a few more days.
This waiting is killing me!! I read that last year applicants received notice by snail mail. I know that some schools call each student and others send both e-mial and snail mail notices. Does anybody know how we are supposed to hear?
Lolita- when you went to the informational session was it an member of the office faculty or teaching? Did they tell you that the 180 were the total number of applicants or only to the FNP track. I heard from one admin person that there were nearly 300 applicants total and then in my interview was told 278. Still not major competitive but more so than 180. Don't let that get you down regardless. Did you mention in your letter why you were opting to change from going to medical school to an NP program? It may be that they misinterpret your interest or passion. Maybe they see it like this is a second (hopefully easier) chance, and not your first choice. I have been mentioning to family and friends that I am surprised I was chosen for an interview when there is somebody like you in the mix, and this has been kind of their thinking. If your passion for nursing is clear in your personal statement then I have no other guesses! I wish you luck with the CNA work. I have been doing it for the last year and I believe that it will either solidify or change your desire to be in the nursing field. Keep your head up, and know that no decisions are final yet! Don't underestimate the power of positive thinking!!
Angel, I am soooo sick of reading that! I too am worried about not getting in and am trying to weigh my options. Did you apply to other programs? For me I know that Seattle U is the best fit for me, so although it may not have been the smartest choice, I am putting all my eggs in this one basket!! I read somewhere that nursing credits can be transfered and that it may be possible to begin a RN program until application time comes next year. Then upon getting in at that time transfer the nursing credit I have up to that point. That way if I am turned away for a second time, at least I didn't waste a year waiting. I figure that I will follow up more on whether or not this would work if need be. Fingers crossed we won't have to worry about back up plans!!
I applied for AGNP track. . .which seems like the popular track this year! I was a nervous wreck until about 15 min before my interview when a faculty member walked in with twin 8 month olds. Just the distraction I needed! It helped me to relax a bit before heading in. Not to say I was no longer nervous, it just gave me the chance to quit hyperventilating!! SU is also my first choice! I am from the Seattle area and it is the only program around that seems to be focused in exactly the direction I want to head.
What about you Mef, which track did you interview for? Or did you already say and I just haven't seen? It is comforting to hear that your interviewer mentioned the waiting list thing to you as well. Maybe we had the same interviewer... I was told pretty much the exact same thing. She said that a few years ago they took in nearly everyone that was on the waiting list, while last year only a few off the waiting list made it in. She said to keep in mind that there are many who apply to multiple schools and decide not to choose SU.
For those who applied to the AGNP track, was that your first choice or were you part of the AFNP group that decided to switch? If you decided to switch what changed your mind? Is there anybody who was invited for an interview but still hasn't gone?
So...had my interview! It sounds like my experience was similar to. From what I understand we will all be asked the exact same set of questions. Anyone else think that's weird, isn't an interview supposed to give us the chance to explain why we stand out? My interviewer was the best, but informed me at the end to not to get discouraged if I am put on a waiting list!? Was this supposed to be hint? She also said that all of us should hear by the first week of March! Yikes! I want to know now.
Flaneur and Angel- Thank you so much for the input! It is comforting to know that I am not going to be the only one who's knees will be shaking. I only hope that if I have to write something, my hands won't be shaking equally as bad. In the e-mail I was sent I was told I would be meeting with one person, well only one name was listed. Angel, were you told you were going to be interviewing with two people? I too will be interviewing for the AGNP program. Flaneur, which program did you interview for? Thanks again for the info, and for those who have not interviewed yet, I will let you know if my experience was similar!
