  2. OB Rotations

As an OB instructor I can tell you what you will do....you will use and adapt the assessment and patient care skills you have learned in other rotations to provide care to a new population. This is no different than any other rotation in your studie...
  3. HELP!! My husband is killing my study schedule...

I don't mean to be insensitive, but what did you and your spouse and children discuss BEFORE you applied and were accepted? I ask because most prospective students do not have this discussion prior to application to the program or have only a superf...
  4. The attire debate - what should nurses wear?

Working in pediatric primary care and with nursing students in adult med-surg clinicals, I usually wear comfortable, business casual with a white lab coat. I identify myself so it is known I am the RN or faculty member and RN. I don't have much pro...
  5. Highly disturbed today at Clinical...

All states have Ombudsman that oversee LTC facilities. An anonymous complaint to the Ombudsman will be investigated within 24 hours. The facility should have Ombudsman info posted right along with the "Patient Rights" info. If not, google Senior O...

It is against the law in my state to present your self as a nurse without appropriate licensure (LPN, RN). There is a fine involved. Check with your state board of nursing and report her.
  10. MA's Calling Themselves Nurses?

    It is illegal in Idaho.
  11. MA's Calling Themselves Nurses?

:) you are preaching to the choir, sister!!! Tell everyone who uses "nurse" incorrectly this exact same thing. In Idaho, the Nurse Practice Act makes it illegal to be called "nurse" without proper licensure. Get this placed in your state's Nurse P...
  12. MA's Calling Themselves Nurses?

This is one of my pet peeves :angryfire (that and sloppy, unprofessional nurses of any degree). I correct each an every MA or MD that uses the word nurse inappropriately. As nursing supervisor in a private practice, all assistants (LPN, RN and MA...
  13. MA's being used as "nurses"

Boy-oh-boy! Have I been there. I was hired into a family practice office. The only nurse with a staff of 3 other MAs who were allowed to do EVERYTHING. I was hired for my education and nursing knowledge, but there was a lot of resistance to chang...
