Hi all, just seeing how everyones semesters are going. I WAS supposed to go to Shady Grove this semester however all those Baltimore campus packets sent to me were not mistakes, they were really for me. Apparently they had me as a Bmore campus person. Of course I found this out kind of late, so I deferred enrollment until fall so I can get myself situated in Bmore or transfer to Shady Grove. I had previously given the 2 weeks for my job since I heard school and work was hard, but luckily they took me back You'll probably see me on here more as the Fall semester approaches, and good luck on your current semester!
What color scrubs do we need to purchase? I've seen on these forums that it is khaki bottoms and white tops, but I am looking at all the information packets we got and they don't specify a color (unless I'm overlooking where it is written). Also, should we get multiple sets of each scrub/lab coat, would 2 be enough?
That's crazy you haven't gotten a packet yet! When did your status change online to "admit"?
Has anyone's admissions status gone from "Admit-Institution" to "Accept Applicant" yet?
On the Class Schedule Listing site, there are two courses listed for Shady Grove campus "NURS304." The first one is "Intro to Prof Nursing Practice" and the other is a "Communications Module." I'm assuming we should choose the first one (Intro to Prof Nursing), but just wanted to run this by all of you and see what you think. I think what threw me off was that both classes have the same course number but different titles.
**Update: Nevermind, silly me, the communications module is an extension of the Intro to Prof Nursing class (I think). Although both are listed as being 4 credits, I think they mean cumulatively they are 4 credits.
FYI: Because the SURFs system was down from late Wednesday until this morning, the Office of Student Accounting is behind on verifying our deposits (if you did it online). I paid on Tuesday and called the office of admissions today about trouble registering. The person I spoke with said that we won't be able to register until both our Confirmation page and deposit are verified and noted on our file.
Does anyone know the hours of the orientation dates for Shady Grove? Is it all day, just the morning, or just the afternoon? I'm trying to see if I can fit some work into those couple of days since they are pretty much my last days of work anyways.
I received my packet Tuesday, in the mail! I already paid the deposit and am in the process of mailing off the confirmation page. I seem to have trouble registering for classes; do I need to wait until they receive the confirmation page?
Anyone who has managed to register for class please let me know how you did it. I can't even login to the general SURFS webpage https://www.simsweb.umaryland.edu/pl...bis.P_ValLogin (not the SURFS admission one) since I'm having trouble creating a new myUMB account.
Still haven't received my acceptance letter. I was expecting it by the end of this week, especially but I believe I was in the first group of people they called (last Friday). Can I panic yet?? Haha
Congratulations, I also have been accepted to UMD! May I ask what pushed you to ultimately choose UMD over Towson's program?
This question is directed @ Grey Lady, or anyone else on these forms who attends/attended UMB's BSN program.
In the beginning of this upcoming Feb. I am supposed to be in my good friend's wedding. Because of its location, in addition to being in the actually wedding party, I would need to miss class on Friday. I think I am just going to have to suck-it-up and back out of going to the wedding if we have class and hope to be eventually forgiven . But looking @ a previous post by a Shady Grove BSN student, I saw that Fridays are for clinicals, and am I correct when I say that clinicals don't start right away?
To the point: Can anyone confirm that clinicals are on Fridays for us @ Shady Grove.... and .... when do clinicals start (specific date if possible please)?
I looked this up on their website this morning because I was wondering the same thing since I have taken classes. It says "Submit a copy of your CPR card Professional Rescuer (without automatic defibrillator) or Professional Healthcare Provider-level CPR certification. Certification should be taken no more than three months before the first day of class. Your certification must be current throughout your enrollment in the program."
So I decided to go to UMD's nursing program. I am sad that I won't be seeing all of you this spring, but I hope those of you on the waitlist hear back soon. I'm pulling for you!
I already have a current CPR certification, but it says "CPR/AED for the professional rescuer" (it's from the American Red Cross). Is there one I need to get that just says "CPR for the professional rescuer" (no AED) that I need? Can't wait to start!
