I started off taking classes towards my LPN at a CC. But wanted a more fast pace school so I could get out in the nursing field. I researched every school, and read every post in reference to a school. Eventually one of my friends attending a school in Richmond told me about RSHT and said she really liked it. My research on the school made me skeptical. But I am now 10 weeks into my LPN program and love it. RSHT down on Williowlawn has a bad reputation in the past. But there are all new management in there, and as long as your in there for the right reason to learn and get your nursing degree your fine. You will get a good education, the teachers are willing to help, and just because there are a few bad apples it doesn't mean it will affect you. The price is very decent compared to MCI. I only have 3 children and will only be walking away with $4,000 in loans. They have another LPN program starting this month. Probably on the 13th. They can work with you to get in quickly.
I have been researching schools that offer the LPN program for over two years now. I finally decided to go with Germanna but I have a few classes I need to take first, then that puts me until 2011 when I can go into the actual nursing program. I just really like the community college prices better then the private school prices. However, now I am reconsidering going to a community college because I would like to get into the nursing field alot faster. Besides the typical $5300 you get in financial aid what else is there to apply for at a private school to help with funding so your not walking away with a ton of debt? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
How did you like MCI? I am very curious about this school. I hear so many negative things. But would really like to get into a LPN program in the VERY near future!!!
How was the registration process with this school? I really want to go to school to become a LPN and really do not have the time to go through a community college. But I have heard a ton of negative things about MCI. Does financial aid cover alot of the tution?
I was curious to know if you thought the CNA program at Germanna was good? And can you do financial aid through them for this course? Years ago you were able to go to practically any nursing home and get free training. Now I can't find anyone offering free classes, and I just do not have the funds to shell out $500+. Anyone know of any place in Orange, Culpeper, Charlottesville, or even Fburg offering free classes at a nursing home?
