Baby can be sitting low in the pelvis but the cervix can still be "high." If you're not absolutely positive, it may not be a bad idea to check if the cervix is posterior. I know OB nurses with 10 years experience who will still have another nurse v...

"Also, I used to work in an ICU on nights and the experience nearly destroyed me. I never really got used to nights and the ICU setting was so incredibly sad that it really wore on my soul." This is what stood out to me most in your post. I have w...
The previous hospital I worked at had a pit protocol that all nurses and providers had to follow. In the event of an ineffective pattern of uterine activity that the provider felt would resolve with an increase in pitocin, the provider would have to...

I agree. My little one and I were involved in a bad fall when she was 8 weeks old. She suffered a brain injury and spent a week in the PICU. That was why I chose nursing, so that I could help others the way that her nurses helped us. Her father i...

I live in a rural area myself. Winter here reminds me of The Shining. =) I'll be working on some of my general education classes for my BSN while I'm waiting to get into the ADN program. I'm lucky in that I don't have to work right now but I get ...
