I am a Student Nurse Tech at Baptist. Starting pay is $9.30, but if you work weekends and/or nights, you get differentials. It's PRN, so they'll work with your schedule. Providence pays more ($11, I've heard), and the VA pays closer to $13.
According to the AACN, you must hold a current, unencumbered nursing license, and you must have 1750 hours of clinical experience, 875 of which are accrued during the most recent year preceding application for certification. More information is here:...

RNs have more autonomy and a greater scope of practice than LPNs. In the hospital, LPNs cannot do an initial assessment, do patient teaching or perform certain tasks like starting IVs.
