  1. 40 year old starting NS and taking the ACT

The average age for RN is about 47. You are young. With determination, I am sure you can do it. Good luck.
  2. No more LPNs?

Phasing out LPN's? My answer consists of 2 words: Not possible. Rationale: 75 million baby boomers and RN's cannot take care of all those aging patients alone. Many people/nurses have been saying it ever since 1999.

  4. Abandonment

"Wow. This seems like very bad advice. Once you accept an assignment, you are responsible for care, which would guarantee that you could be charged with abandonment if you try to leave in the middle of a shift. ETA: Which brings up another question...
  5. Abandonment

You just hope the DON is not going to report it to the FL-BON. The way to approach this problem is to take the assignment first even it is unsafe, then you proceed to discuss your concern with the supervisor or DON. If they have no intention to liste...
  6. Is it worth going to school to be an LPN?

If you could get into an RN Program, you should go for it. However, if that is not the case, you can use the LPN Program as a stepping stone. The very first time when I heard some nurses said that LPN's would be phased out was in 1998 and that was 11...
  7. Confrontation with a Visitor

I am not so sure if your bosses were really "understand." I think all the bosses are diplomatic and smooth talking is part of it. Have you noticed that some nurses are doing the same thing? In front of you, they will say XYZ is no good and in front o...
  8. Incident report on residnet who went out door. Advice

You must also read the OP statement--the very first post in this thread. You will come up with a bigger picture because I was responding to the OP. In this case, there is no need for an incident report!
  9. Confrontation with a Visitor

The administrator was correct as there is no evidence at all. A nurse's "intuition" is just not good enough in this case.
  10. Incident report on residnet who went out door. Advice

You must quote my post entirely! I said an incident report is not needed and I stand by my decision;however, it seems to me you intentionally left out the big part of it. Anyhow, I rest my case, as there is no needed to go on further. Have a good day...
  11. Confrontation with a Visitor

how do you know the wife is controlled by that man? are you closely related to them? is op's intuition a standard for all of us? it is just not right to judge a person when we are not even there. if the op was a judge, many innocents might have to go...
  12. Confrontation with a Visitor

I wasn't there so I don't think it is appropriate for me to judge what that man did. Different cultures have different ways to approach women. When you work in one of the Arab countries, you can't even have any eye contact with your female co-workers...
  13. What are common problems at Nursing Homes

So much work...so little time. You finally realized that you only have two hands and just 10 fingers and it is not enough.
  14. Volunteering Overseas?

Doctor without Border! Requirement: 2 years experiences in your specialty! Pay: Very little! No student loan forgiveness! Good luck! I always respect those who sacrifice!
  15. Incident report on residnet who went out door. Advice

Both of them are the same! The second one I had to spend more time to define the first one! What do you mean by "your prior statement...erroneous?" An incident report is not needed in this case due to the fact that there is no harm to the resident in...
