So sorry for the late response! I just checked this for the first time in awhile. I got a large envelope in the mail and they asked us to respond by March 11, I send in my acceptance today! Yay! Hope you hear soon
The more I think about it, I am pretty 100% set on PLU as well. Reading your pros and cons I think really hit the nail on the head. In the end, I just want to get the best education possible and be prepared to be a fantastic nurse practitioner! What solidified my decision was hearing from PLU's staff. I sent Amy Manoso an email with a huge list of questions, and she promptly responded to me with a very personalized email answering everything I asked about. I love how approachable and accessible the faculty are, and this is the type of environment I know I will thrive in.
Also in the email, she mentioned that they have a lifetime pass rate of the NCLEX of 100%! As opposed to Seattle U's 2008 class had an 80% pass rate (she told me). The numbers speak for themselves. It sounds like PLU will provide an extremely supportive environment, offers great clinical opportunities and the cohort is only about 20 people (10 to 1 student-professor ratio during clinical the first year- then smaller as you move into your specialty).
My final factor was cost of living in Tacoma is CHEAP (I live in Seattle right now) and I have heard good things about the North end of Tacoma. Even though its not close to PLU, I think that is the area I will live in.
So, if you decide PLU, I will see you at the orientation Good luck, and Congratulations on both!!!
I was accepted to PLU as well, what do you know about the program? I haven't talked to too many people who have been to accepted or gone through the ELMSN program. Just curious what you are basing your decision on between the 2 schools?
Congrats!!! I just checked my mail and nothing I think that is a bad sign.
I can't wait to get off work and check my mail box!! let me know if you got in!
Nope, nothing for me. Just checked todays mail and nada!! I figured I would get the letters within a day because I live in Seattle. another day of waiting.... fingers are crossed for everyone!
Thanks for checking in annaseattle! I appreciate it!
and CONGRATULATIONS on your acceptance!!!
Did they email you or send you letter?
I am totally in the same boat... waiting in torture! I just want to know a yes or no.... only a few more days hopefully! Do you think we will hear beginning or week or end? and do you think they will email or mail ( I want to know if I should stalk my mailbox or email account) Let me know when you hear!! Good luck!
I got into the program!! I am so so happy Anyone else hear back?!?!
Seattle University, Pacific Lutheran University and Georgetown... I should hear from a few next week, but they are all pretty competitive. They are all for FNP programs though, San Diego is the only CNL program I applied to. Thanks for the luck! I think the waiting is the worst
Hi! Congratulations to both of you!
I am in the same boat Just got accepted and am concerned about the cost and not coming out with a Nurse Practitioner degree (which I ultimately want). I love the program and the faculty/school seemed great; I know I would be very happy there. I am just not sure.... Sorry, I have no good advice, just wanted to say that I understand I am also waiting to hear back from other programs... so we will see.
Still no news on my front, I am hoping the end of this week or beginning of next. I got into USD's program and they want a deposit by Mar 16, so I am hoping to know by then.
I am not sure how many are accepted each year, I would be curious to know as well, I doubt it is a very large program. Good to know that there are others that haven't heard Did you guys apply to other programs in the northwest?
I applied to this program as well and have not heard anything back. I made a few mistakes on my application (not using the correct recommendation forms... ooops!) so I am not sure if I will hear later than everyone else or this hurt my chances to get in. Do you know how competitive this program is? I did ask the admissions assistant when we would know and she said end of this month/beginning of March... Good luck! let me know if you hear anything!!
