    The key word here is PRESCRIBED, prescribed to be given at a certain dose at a certain time. Prescribed applies to all meds given in a nursing facility of any type if I am not mistaken

    How is asking for more any different then asking for less? in the case of insulin dosage, not referring to the obvious dilemma of asking for more pain meds.

    if the order read 10 u and the patient is requesting 5 and is given 5 you you have knowingly changed the order. That is practicing medicine. It is also a med error. Call the MD, he/she may very well refuse to order for you, that is what you document...
