  1. Anyone a grad from WSSU?

Thank you so much for that information! That makes me feel MUCH better. I have a 4.0 in pre-req grades right now. I still need to take Microbiology, Developmental Psych and Chemistry. I had planned on applying to FTCC for Spring instead, but I think ...
  2. Anyone a grad from WSSU?

Do you know how many people apply and how they are selected? I slacked off in my previous BS and only graduated with a 2.9. Do you think that's good enough to get in? I saw a 2.7 is required. How do you like it so far?
  3. challenge cna exam.?

There is a testing center in High Point. You have to send your application in through Pearson Vue. To print the application go here: http://www.asisvcs.com/indhome.asp?CPCAT=0734NURSE To see the testing facilities website, go here: http://www.theheal...
  4. challenge cna exam.?

I live a little further north and know more about the Winston Salem area (about 15 -20 minutes from High Point). Most of the postings I have seen start out LPNs (no experience) around 14 - 15.00/hour. I'm not sure about High Point specifically, but I...
  5. Anyone in NC, question, please help

Good luck to both of you!
  6. showers

We do twice a week as well unless the resident refuses. But they sometimes get more than two a week if they need it. We have a CNA who does just showers on those shifts, sometimes two CNAs.
  7. challenge cna exam.?

I'm in Winston Salem. I took my test in High Point. Do you know what they said you did wrong? I've heard there are some really tough testers and some really easy ones. The lady who did my testing was really laid back. Just remember to wash your hands...
  8. challenge cna exam.?

I challenged the exam in NC and passed. Just study the steps in your manual. Practice on someone at home if they'll let you. If you're familiar with the medical field it will be mostly common sense. Good luck!
  9. Those with kids

I'm 31 and have a two-year-old and a five-month-old. I work full time plus go to school full time. I couldn't do it without the help of my husband though. He's a TREMENDOUS help. He's very hands on with the kids and keeps them while I'm not home. Thi...
  10. I did mine in High Point a couple weeks ago. They are supposed to have a dirty linen hamper in the room where you can put dirty linens. I would not put ANYTHING on the floor. I was told that's a big no no. But there should be 1 dirty linen hamper for...
  11. question about NURSE ANESTHETIST

I think this is always a Master's level program. I am familiar with the one at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. It requires a BSN and one year of full time nursing practice in ICU.
  12. Interview Questions

I think I had the easiest CNA interview ever. They only asked me 2 questions. "What's the best way to prevent the spread of infection?" and "If an Alzheimer's or dementia patient is claiming to see a blue dinosaur on the corner do you argue or go alo...
  13. state test.?........

I just took the NC test a couple weeks ago. There ere several different written tests to prevent cheating. It was really common sense though. You should be fine on that. I was really nervous for the skills test too! They give you 5 skills to perform...
  14. 6 months of assisted living to hospital?

If you're really interested in making the switch apply for some hospital positions then call the human resources department and speak to the CNA recruiter. I did that here and she gave me great information about what they're looking for and what kind...
  15. Thinking of starting a new career.

CNA work isn't the most glamorous but it can be very rewarding. If you enjoy taking care of people and don't mind the down and dirty then I say go for it! Not sure how the pay will compare to what you've been making. CNA's generally don't make a lot ...
