My dad, in the hospital and under the influence of narcotics from his open cholecystectomy (and he rarely takes anything stronger than Tylenol), called the urologist the "pissologist."

Medical transcriptionist for 14 years, plus looking for my first RN job, so I hear a LOT of fun stuff. What irritates me - 'or-oh-fair-NIX' instead of 'or-oh-fair-INKS.' My grandpa, Lord love him, has also had a few doozies - his Atrovent is "Astrovent" and his HMO is an "HBO," among others.

Can anyone recommend a good staffing service to use to find my first RN job (and first nursing job in general), or am I better off going solo?

    Thanks!

Awesome - thanks. I did talk with someone from Providence about the internship thing, so I think that is where I am going to start.

    Hi -

I'll be a new grad RN (hopefully!) after the Winter/Spring 2012 semester...I want to relocate to Alaska from MN, to do OB or NICU (good luck, right?!) - any tips? Kind of freaking out from all of the "horror stories" I'm hearing about the job market, etc.

    Thanks!

That sounds great - I do want to do NICU or OB, though - any good suggestions for that?

I'm also a medical transcriptionist at the moment while in school and I hear the providers using this term a lot before I started school; I had to look it up, of course, because I was totally clueless. Also, I live with and take care of my 83 y/o Gramps who has Alzheimer's and does this on occasion, but he's usually pretty easy to redirect.

Just take a deep breath, get up, walk away and do something else for 5 minutes. THEN come back, "solve" one problem at a time, taking deep breaths between them if you need to, then solve another. Remember - you're a student and you're LEARNING.

This has GOT to be the week for instructors to tick us off - I was ticked at MY instructor when I commented originally, but I still stand by it. *L*

Don't give that bitter old cow a second thought - she's not worth it. Her need to feel superior to someone else isn't worth your time or energy. If anything, study harder and use the intelligence you have and she lacks against her.
