Riverview is in Detroit So depending how traffic is Id say 30 to 40 min
It depends on how much money you want to spend a month on rent. There are some cheap decent places in downtown Rochester Its a great area not much crime etc police station right in the area located near alot of restaurants, shopping, hospital etc. I think there priced at mid 550 and up. It also not to far of a drive to OU.
Honestly I dont feel prepared. I mean its nursing school Its hard regardless and if that is the only place you got in at then go there. Sallie Mae doesnt do a loan for this. Trust me been there done that and fellow classmates. I dont a 10 G bridge loan from the school its a private loan and you need a co signer that has great credit. Then the other half I got from no worker. I honestly felt this place was a nursing mill. They get you in and out. But by the time u go youll have new I mean new teachers like Mrs.Bell who came on in our last semester and well she doesnt like to answer any of your questions and it made it difficult. I didnt work while in school alot of ppl did and I dont know how they did it. All I can say i read your materal
Good Luck with this place. I just finished my LPN program and this school came to ours. Its so freaking much. I also had my teacher go here to finish her masters and she didnt like it. She said even if you dont plan on attending your online classes every semt you still have to pay. Its basically like your paying to pass out of a class that is if u pass. They send you a huge binder of what to except on the exam you have how ever long u need then you go to a school or testing location to take that test. Then the next one. This is even how your RN classes will be. So u dont have an actual insructor in front of you u have one online and u can call one but still. And they said they have their clinicals in Ohio I belive for a wkend and if u pay an extra 900 .oo u have an 98% rate of passing. This extra money gives u a video and binder in what to except in your clinical wkend and if u dont pay the extra money you have like a 60% or even lower chance of passing I know its a low number. They came to our school three times they came to a classmates house even. Its a much of crap I think but hey if you want to pay 10 grand and just finish your RN and dont care that your degree will say its from Excelsior than go for it.
I just finished the LPN program at This school. Honestly its a bunch of miscommunication everything changes daily with this place. There is other places in Mi that offer this program and that is one yr. Latoya's is another one yr lpn program and is half of what it costs at AMC. NWLB has ran out of money and is asking for more. There is about over 3 thous ppl waiting to get started on this free money and about 5 thous waiting for a meeting eith Mi works. Dont hold your breath on this money just yet. Was just on the news this evening about it. AMC does not have a payment plan either. If your desperate enough to get into a school I would go here but other than not for get it. This place was nothing but a headache. Look online at the other places in Mi. This school doesnt offer this program at the det location either. And also there is another place its located in westland that does the one yr lpn I looked into but already in this program in flint. There out there. Good luck
I currently go there now.Its a good program if you didnt get into anywhere else but this is there 2nd year and we dealt with nothing but confusion. We had a teacher resign in the middle of the year which made it hard. Your going to want to pull your hair out many times but other than that its fine.
I just wanna tell some people this just so that you dont waste your time like I did.
I currently go to American Medical careers in FLint. I went to davenport last sem and got all A's did good on everything. They have a waiting list they tell you they dont. but they do. On our last day of class final day a man came in and handed us some info on diff programs and aslo asked if any of you are going into nursing try and look into other programs we got 600 applicants for the program and only accept 30! I just got my denial letter from them last week. Kinda late also.
Everst in southfield is a joke. A girl from my AP class went there and two weeks and came back to class. They were way more thean any program around i think she said 25 grand. She said they had no teacher they handed her a binder of cds about 25 or more and said study these. Honest to god.
American Medical and Athnea and toldeo school of LPN i think are really good. I chose American because my AP classes they took and Athnea didnt. I went to athnea in May. and toledo wanted me to take the net. Im sorry but Im done with taking all these entrance exams. So I stuck with American Medical.
NWLB I went to Mi works for this. you must go to an office for this. Fill out the paper work and take a test they will pay up to 10 grand for a one year program like the LPN I heard maybe 15. U have to make under 40 grand to apply to this. Its easy and worth it. Its free money but u need to do it fast. I hoped this helps.
Honestly I wouldnt go to either Evert or DAvenport. I went to DU last sem and didnt get into the program for LPN 08 I got all A's and the Everst a girl in my class went there and she ended up coming back to class she said the program there is a joke. They had no teachers and handed her a binder with about 25 cds in it and that was her teacher and its more than any other program around i think she said 25. I go to American medical careers in Flint. Theyre about 20 but it could be less if you have taken some other classes. Good luck!
I just made a post about your question. The no worker thing is where you can get free money from Mi works. I have gone there. If your going to one of these career academys theyll pay 10 grand the least is 5. I heard some even got 15. And 15 is only if your program is one year. They only do this once. I hear how much I get this week. I went to the mi works in lansing. I live about an hour and so away from there. But thats where my school told me to go to. I guess there getting the most hits out of that office. Talk to the school your going to they might be contracting them regrading other students. I go to american medical careers. I did look into athnea though. I didnt want to take another entrance test and they told me they couldnt tranfer my AP classes so I would have to re take them. THey told me this in May. Good luck. read my comment below.
Actually I went there to get more info. Im currently going to American Medical Careers. But for people that make under 40,000 a year go to mi works and get info on the no worker left behind. They can pay for it. The most they give is 10,000 a year and if its a year poss 15. They had a meeting on it friday about trying to give 15,000 for a year but this is only for careers in demand and depending on what your going through. If its at a comm college then they break it up the lowest amount is 5 grand the most is 10. I went to the clinic in lansing Im trying to get 10 grand but hoping for 15. But you have to act fast on this. Its a pain in the butt. but worth it. Good Luck.
What is the Bridge program? I attend Davenport and they make it seem like there is no waiting list for the Pn/RN program but there is. Our last final this man walked in and said if there is any nursing students in here think about going into something else if you dont get accepted. I guess there was 600 applicants and they olny accept 30. I still havent heard anything yet. The hesi is a bunch of crap the advisors @ DAvenport (angel & Jessica) say that they dont look at the scores too much. They base it on GPA, recommendations, essay,Hesi. I got all A's and B's with working full time crazy hours. SO Im going to go to Flint's LPN program yea its alot of money 21,000 alot but if I dont get in to Davenports program I have no other choice and really dont want to wait another year thinking I might get in.I need to do it now. I wouldnt advise you to go to either DAvenport or Baker. Your credits wont transfer to a comm college the important ones anyway like A & P. Ive talked to the people at OCC,OU,MCC,St. Clair they wanted to to re take my A & P classes.
Did u talk to someone there? I currently go to davenport and I feel like its a waste of time. I have all my pre nursing classes done. Ive talked to the toldeo school for lpns and mi medical careers in flint. But the one in flint is alot of money. So i dunno. But I guess its better than nothing
