I'm in southern New Hampshire, and the snow here is bad enough, i can't imagine going up to Maine! I've had to dig out down here enough. The averages might be thrown off around here, i'm a new grad LPN and my nursing home started me at 47,000 per yea...

I work in LTC and we have 2 "restraints" in use, as considered by our state, out of our 150 beds. Our two lovely ladies have little seat belts on their wheel chairs, because they have a tendency to either slump over in their chairs asleep or try to p...

I get the Depo shot as well. In reference to the above poster, I think you're getting the SubQ type of Depo. That one goes in the abdomen. The IM type of Depo I personally get it in the deltoid. I dunno, i'd rather not be stabbed in the butt with a n...
The SAME exact thing happened to me last night. Luckily i remembered from report that the woman had become "care and comfort." Clicking in my head was that Full Code and Care and Comfort don't go together. Booked it down the hall and had my answer in...
I posted this in the LNA forum too, i'm working with my supervisor for the best way to do walking rounds on 11-7 with the previous and oncoming shifts. I would like to know if your LNAs do walking rounds at all at the start and end of your shifts, an...

I'm torn on this. I see the need for comort for Nurses who are on their feet all day, but i'm against this whole thing with holes in your shoes. I've seen it happen at my work, people get peed on or step in something. I just have to say, me personall...
I have a question. So currently, I'm an LNA and am in nursing school for my LPN. I work overnights to pay my way through. Now i do the best i absolutely can and my first and foremost concern is the safety of my residents. Here's an example, a residen...

I start APII on June 2nd until July 3rd. 2 days a week for 5 hours ontop of my Practical Nursing lecture and clinical 3 other days a week. I tried a "Hybrid" in the spring, but i just couldn't handle the 100 powerpoint slides a night. It was a little...

I'm just an LNA, and in LPN school, but I've got a few things too. 1. Just because you're an LPN doesn't mean you're better than the rest of us and don't have to toilet people. Also, it's EVRYONE'S responsibility to answer call lights, it's facility ...

I've found that you've really got to work in LTC first. They're the most willing to train new aides. I know that i really wanted to work in a hospital first but i just couldn't find one that would accept no experience but i got hired right on in LTC....
I figure I'll answer that question long w/ the OP because i was just talking with my coworkers here and someone asked me the same question. I didn't even have to think, my reflex response was... I want to help the people that no one else wants to hel...
I've got a good one, i was very upset when my coworker told me the next night that i missed this. I was almost in tears over the story, let alone if i had actually been there. I work in LTC on 11-7 and we had one resident who's husband had been stayi...
