  1. Neuro ICU - Do you talk to brain-dead patients?

I talk to my unresponsive pts. in case they may be able to hear us. But as mentioned above, brain dead is dead.
  2. St Louis University

I went there for undergrad. Enjoyed it and thought it was challenging as well. You do not have to be a grad of SLU to have SLU hospital pay back your tuition.
  3. Propofol

In our ICU, we use propofol all the time d/t its short half life for neuro checks. All of these pts. are intubated. I have never had the experience of administering it to a pt. without a protected airway.
  4. How long did it take for you to work in the ICU?

I worked 2.5 years on a med surg floor to get my feet wet, then on to a neuro/ent/transplant ICU. I hope to someday become a CRNA, but we'll see. I still need time in the ICU to feel comfortable.
