Someone else posted mostly the same thing. Do some research and call these companies. I can from personal experience say stay away from American mobile, they take advantage of newbies to travel (I was one of those once upon a time), but the other c...

I have been a traveler on and off for years, I do not recommend any American Mobile company (from personal experience). Research would be a smart move, but I can recommend Fastaff. If there is a specific hospital you are interested in, try calling ...

Hello, I was recently considering a travel position there and discovered housing is almost nonexistent out there(besides vacation rentals which were outrageous). I will be interested in seeing any responses.

Hi SionainnRN, Maybe I missed something, but I thought the OP clarified in her second post in this thread that she was giving report to the nurse receiving the patient, so in that case, the nurse had every right to peruse the notes. I agree that nur...

Hello, I recently accepted a travel assignment at Montefiore in the ED, and I sense transportation might be an issue (at the Einstein campus). Is there anyone here currently at Montefiore, or has been there recently and can give me the scoop?

Hi Rinskins, Reading your post reminded me of recent incident I had recently with a nurse who is new to the ED. Granted she is not a new nurse (the ED requires 1year of acute care experience as a minimum requirement), but still pretty inexperienced i...

Hi Ziggy, I too am looking at the job market in the Phoenix area, but am not likely to move there for another 9 months or so. I don't know what the wages are for someone of my experience (20 years of hospital nursing, in many specialties, last 4 yea...

Hello OP, As a nurse for almost 20 years now, and currently working in the ER, I can sympathize with what you went thru in the ER recently. So many doc's are "gun shy" as I see it, because they are afraid of overmedicating, or whatever. Then again,...

The albuterol treatment via nebulizer is okay every hour (if necessary), however you should not be giving the Atrovent that frequently. If you have to give more than 4 treatments in a row each hour, I would be phoning the physician.

From what I remember, it was any color top, and white bottoms (ugh, took me 10 years of nursing before I was finally able to wear any color scrubs). As a traveler, we only had to look presentable (they didn't care so much about us following the regu...

hello, i used to work there as a traveler, in the edip unit. i have no idea what the regular staff salary is, but i can tell you the er is the typically crazy nyc (bronx especially) er, people/patients everywhere. they will have 3 stretchers in a b...

I can answer some of these questions. First the dose of dilaudid was 1 mg, and the nausea med was zofran 4 mg (both in the same syringe and slammed in). The patient's initial VS were 110's/60's, and HR 60's. The patient was familiar to the charge ...

Thanks Leslie. I think there must be a way to bring this issue to light without singling out the charge nurse in this incident. I think that there are way too many newer/less experienced nurses in our ER who will witness this behavior and consider ...

The patient was seen by a PA initially. It wasn't until she became extremely hypotensive that everything jumped into high gear (stat portable US, rapid infuser, Levophed, Surgeons called in, etc). As soon as we had her ready and stable enough to tra...

It might very well be that I end up saying nothing and simply take this away as a learning experience. However, as I think I mentioned in my original post, I did go in to talk with the patient immediately after the first hypotensive reading (80's/50...
