  1. Skechers or New Balance

New Balance! I think Sketchers are poorly made, offer little to no support, and fall apart quite easily.
  2. New practice acts and scope of practice

    Such as?
  3. Anyone love their facility?

I don't know of any hospitals in the Chicagoland area that hire LPNs (that's not to say that there aren't any, though).
  4. LPN School, Americare Insitute in Hanover Park Illinois

The nursing program at Elgin Community College offers day and night classes. It's an accredited program with an excellent reputation. They also allow their students to sit for the NCLEX-PN after the first two semesters, and then continue on toward ...
  5. Student Loans for people over 35

Many hospitals list their job openings and employee benefits on their website. If this hospital doesn't, you could try contacting their HR department.
  6. Warning - Thieves

I've ordered from Jasco in the past & had no problem. Sounds like they're currently having some security issues. Thanks for the warning. I was actually going to order from their site last night, but I opted to go to bed early.
  7. Need help re: trip to Chicago

I love Lou Malnati's pizza (http://www.loumalnatis.com/locations/chicago_rivernorth.html). Also, check out one of Chicago's architectural boat tours (http://www.chicagoline.com/archcruise/). I live here and have taken the tour more than once. It's ...
  8. NS pack for lab

We had to purchase a new pack for each semester. They each contained whatever was relevant to that semester. I think they were around $70-80, as well. We only received one IV start kit, but we had access to more in the lab so that we could practic...
  9. NS pack for lab

The lab packs at my school contained items that we would need for both our clinicals and our skill validations (eg., sterile gloves, penlight, bandage scissors, splash goggles, foley catheter kit, IV start kit, CPR pocket mask, etc.). :)
  10. query abt immoigration to US(very peculiar)

  11. Passed NCLEX...now what??

Actually, in Illinois, you'll receive your official results and licensure application within a few weeks. Mine came approximately three weeks after I took the exam. I sent in the application, along with a check for $50, 3 1/2 weeks ago. I'm still ...
  12. Kicked out of Nursing School

Why was she kicked out? I know two different people who both received less than 80% in a nursing class and, therefore, were not allowed to continue through the program. The one student applied and was accepted elsewhere. The other student re-appli...
  13. Hi everyone! I received my official NCLEX-PN results and licensure application 3 weeks ago. I immediately sent the application in and I've been eagerly awaiting my license ever since (I admit, I even look for my name/license look-up info on idpr.com...
  14. How much of this book knowledge will we need anyways?

We actually discussed such scenarios first semester. Not just disgruntled docs, but anyone who approaches us aggressively or inappropriately. I appreciate that we were encouraged to be confident and assertive professionals.
  15. What type of bag for books?

I absolutely recommend getting a bag on wheels for class. Nursing books are way too heavy to lug back and forth any other way. Trust me, your back will appreciate it! For clinicals, I used a different, smaller bag just large enough to carry my cli...
