don't worry about it quite yet. its a process. just because you're not in the system yet does not mean you failed.
  2. I took My NCLEX,Monday Afternoon.......

don't worry about it too much. my test stopped at 77 or something. I was sure that I failed (most people do when they walk out of there), but I passed it on my first try. I looked up my name on the California RN site. I took the test on a Saturday I ...
  3. So confused...and a little nervous

the commute from the valley is actually quite horrendous. I would try to stick to Santa Monica/West LA/Westwood if you don't want a bad commute. you might have to do a lot of looking, but its possible to find something under $2000 a month for a two b...
  4. UCLA Medical Center Santa Monica

I worked at Santa Monica for a little over a year and I loved it. I worked in the peds department. as far as overtime, you get paid for OT after 40 hours for the week. their new grad program is pretty good (I did my new grad residency there). good ...
  5. Advice on Santa Monica

I lived in Santa Monica for two years and loved it. it is expensive to live there, though. your best bet may be to find a roommate or a studio apartment. sign up at www.westsiderentals.com. when I used it, it was $60 for two months. I can almost guar...
  6. How hard to find a RN position in Bay area?

yes. but houses aren't exactly cheap in L.A. either. you were hard-pressed to find a 2 bedroom condo for less than $700k in the area I lived and would have wanted to buy in.

the L.A. area pays significantly less than the Bay area. part of the reason why there are so many people trying to find jobs up here. I worked for UCLA and I will be getting paid more $12 more per hour in the Bay area than I was down there.

I just relocated to Santa Clara and am having a difficult time trying to find a pediatric RN job. I have seen a lot of F/T ICU and L&D positions, though.
  9. Where to live in California?

I lived in L.A. (Santa Monica specifically) and LOVED it. we just relocated to Santa Clara for hubby's job, and, while its nice, its not my ideal place to live. L.A. is a lot more fast-paced, a lot more things to do... I just love everything about it...
  10. nursing "shortage"?

I went to an RN info session for Kaiser in April and it seems that they may need to hire a few peds nurses once they expand. I've actually been in contact with Reg Med Ctr of San Jose and they called me about a per-diem position, something I'm not s...
  11. nursing "shortage"?

hi everyone. I just moved to Santa Clara from L.A. and came across this site. I'm in the process of searching for a pediatric RN position in one of the local hospitals. question. is the nursing "shortage" up here as bad as it is in SoCal? I am havin...
