   That is weird not to do OB. At my school we definately did the OB/ peds rotation and yes we are allowed to start Iv's. I was actually and was able to be sucessful on my first try.

    Check the pH of the gastric contents, this will tell if your are in the right place by how acidic the contents are. How do you do an air bolus to ck placement. I might have been taught, but can't remember.
