  1. Moderate Sedation policy

We have anesthesia do sedated MRI's. They usually intubate and put them on a propofol drip, so they don't have to stay in the room. Then we recover the pt.
  2. Teen daughters 1st pelvic exam...

Rayrae, please go to Planned Parenthood. My first exam was there; really, it's not that bad! They will make you comfortable so you're not ticklish, but you really should start getting routine exams.
  3. Heparin and Nitro Compatability

Seriously, isn't it awful how it seems sometimes you never get credit when it's due? I'm in a community hospital cath lab that does primary angioplasty for acute MI. We had a pt a few weeks ago who was in cardiogenic shock, put in balloon pump, end...
  4. Perl------a?

Hey, if anybody can clear it up, it's an ICUNeuroNerd!!! Thanks.

  9. Yep.
  10. Ours is the same as CCLBabe said. RN's CAN scrub in our lab; it's just a matter of how many people there are. Only RN's can give meds. Also, we must have an RT present if x-ray equipment is in use. So, it usually just works out that the RT scrubs...
  11. Do you have to be "super smart" to be a nurse?

So many good replies. Yes common sense, yes reasonable intelligence. Regarding some of the dolts that I worked with in a previous job, a friend of mine (who still works there) says "that's fine, they can keep their jobs, they're here to make me look...
  12. Have you ever administered IV iron?

Have done it, no problems. We've treated it carefully, premedicated, like w/ Amphotericin B. Just make sure it's run SLOWLY, heads off untoward effects.
  13. Transportation of Telemetry/Stepdown Patients

Pt must go with ACLS nurse and monitor unless an order is written specifically that the pt can go without nurse and monitor.
  14. Hospital CEO was paid $2.25 million before 200 got the ax

Yay corporate America! Guess what--the same thing is happening with the airlines, too.
  15. Stripes

We never even got caps (graduated in 1997).
