  1. 16,000 deliveries a year? Really?

    I just recently accepted a job at Norhtside in Atl. They had 18,000 deliveries last year. It is very organized. They are divided into pods, and you wouldn't know that they are that busy. :monkeydance:
  2. How much pitocin SQ to give after placenta delivery?

    We add 20 units pitocin to 1 liter of IVF following delivery of placenta and allow the liter to infuse at bolus rate.
  3. Red Headed = increased bleeding risk?

    Yes, I believe it's true also. If I have a pt with red hair, I try to have methergine at the bs for after delivery.:redlight:
  4. Amen to that! If we miss we are to busy for lunch we clock out no lunch and are not deducted the 30 min.s we should of had. We usually have 5-6 RN's, 2 tech.'s, and a HUC. Our ratio is usually 1 labor with outpatient triage or an antepartum.
  5. Where do you work? National Standard is 2:1 labor, but how do you watch a patient on the monitor and circulate at the same time. Sounds a dangerous to me.
  6. Doulas in l+d,hospital setting

    I am or was a doula also. I found that it was too difficult being a doula in the same unit I also work as a L&D RN. The md's expected me to function as the RN when in the doula role. I think all L&D nurses are essentially doula's, but hey jus...

    Don't you hate when the "dayqueens" are perky and flip on all the lights:idea: required attire for night shift diva's sunglasses and sleep mask.
