Does anyone know what's going on with the SJCME FNP program? I was finally ready to apply but it says that they are not taking applications for the FNP program at this time. Is the program going to be discontinued? I really hope they keep the prog...
Hi. I have just been offered a job I would LOVE to accept. It's in a "dream" specialty of mine, but it is an hour away and the schedule would definitely interfere with my kids' schedules. I told the recruiter I am thrilled with the offer, and would...

Sounds like the unit I used to work in. I loved it there for a few years. I was on the council and attended meetings too. Had a lot of friends there (still friends with). But I applied in another unit in the hospital... did not get it. Also one ...
Good luck with your new job, Bortaz! I enjoyed reading your posts. Thank YOU for sharing your NICU knowledge. By the way, I read your other post too. I have also worked in a toxic unit and had to leave even though I had been happy there for a fe...

What did you decide, @nursebythesea? I am in a similar position while job hunting. How far is too far for that dream job? I'm worried about falling asleep on the way home from night shift. Otherwise, I think it's doable.

See, this is what the problem is for me though. I would LOVE to go back to school for NNP. But I can not get hired in NICU without NICU experience. I have been applying for 7 years. I know that I should have NICU experience before going back for...
Because at first I would have had to take the GRE or MAT, and hated studying for those tests and never scheduled either. Because I waited too long to go back to school. Because I had kids. Because when I finally got my act together to apply, I dec...

I've been there, done that. Bullying is widespread in nursing. At one job, it was okay for a while for me, while everyone else complained about it. Then I spoke up about something I didn't think was right. I was then bullied by a team of mean gir...

Although it is inappropriate to ask this, it's usually not confidential what new grads make at a facility. She could have called HR and asked herself. IT should be the same exact rate for all new grad RNs. It should also be a scale for how many ye...
I went into a broader general area after school but IMHO I think you should specialize right away if that's what you want. I have found it difficult to transfer into another specialty. I see new grads being hired before me. Why be miserable for a ...

I suspect I don't get calls for some jobs because of these personality tests. I think I always answer them okay. But when I don't even get called in for an interview, it makes me wonder. I guess my answers weren't ok.

I agree it's overused. With my own children, it was needed for two of them (induction). However, with the one pregnancy I arrived at 6 cm after laboring at home. They put me on pit bc the one doctor's call was over at 8 am and wanted to see me out....
Yes, I agree with above. The reason it went away? Probably because the patients were brainwashed by the medical community that epidurals and pharmaceuticals were the way to go. No profits mean no reason to give it to a patient. It would have to b...
I'm baffled when people go in for surgery FROM HOME who have not bathed or showered or even washed their hands in a sink... apparently in a week. Seriously?
