About kettlecorn60

kettlecorn60 has 10+ years experience as a BSN, RN, EMT-B and specializes in RN BSN.

Worked as a CNA (5 years), EMT (12 years) and ER PCT (11years), all while raising my 3 (now grown) children.  I already had my BS  degree (in Business) from years prior and began my RN conquest slowly, in order to focus on obtaining excellent grades in my prereq nursing classes.  I attended a local community college before applying to nursing programs and got accepted into an accelerated 15 month BSN program,  graduating in 2013 (while still working fulltime in the ER) and helping care for my elderly mother in declining health. I put my nursing career on hold to be there for her.

I finally landed my first RN job and worked 3 years as a charge nurse/part-time supervisor before finally getting hired at the VA in 2016. This is my “second career” and although I could have made different choices along the way,  I now realize that each step was an integral part of the process. Each was necessary in order to bring me to where I am today.  I Love being a nurse! And I strive to bring joy and make a  difference, each day, one patient at a time. There’s no career more gratifying.

  5. Waiting in the ER & Heard This

Unfortunately this happens everyday at the ER. People come in holding their bag from McDonalds or a DD coffee, and claim that they have "10/10 pain" "chest pain" or "trouble breathing." These have become some of the "code words" people use because ...
