   In my year(2016) credit checks were on 7/15z. The first round of emails went out on 7/26. But our submission deadline was 5/4 so you guys are still really early!

    The tax withholding is based on your deductions mine usually was about 17%. As of the first of the year they began withholding taxes from the tuition portion as well, which is again based on your W4. They don't withhold state taxes.

    I would suggest reading the guidance PDF I don't think that they consider people over that EIC as being in the most financial need
