  1. Blacklisted

Hi all, I just recently graduated from nursing school (Finally) and I haven't taken my NCLEX-RN yet, but I am struggling to find a job as a CNA. I have 4 years of experience and throughout my time in nursing school, I've been fired, or DNR as a...
  2. Can I still be a great nurse without prior CNA experience?

This is not relevant to the post, but does anybody know how to start a conversation for others to reply? I can't seem to find the answer. Also, for OP, nursing programs don't require you to be a CNA. Some do, but the one I'm in doesn't and our state ...
  3. Second chance as a new grad

You always bring hopes up, Caliotter3. Please don't ever change your profile name. It's always good to see your supportive positivity. I wish managers had that. I was planning on staying where I'm at as a CNA to transition as an RN, but I also wanted...
  4. Second chance as a new grad

I graduate next May. I was at the hospital for about a month or a month and a quarter, one of those two, and I didn't get to see these two patients almost the whole day because I was trying to answer other call lights and I just had poor management s...
  5. Second chance as a new grad

Hello all, I have a question. Those who worked in HR either at a hospital or in general your advice would be greatly appreciated. Nursing managers like Unit Manager or Director please share your thoughts. I work as a CNA whi...
  6. Skipping assigned reading?

Yeah, med surg is difficult. I've been told fundamentals is med-surg. My program has fundamentals, then I think med surg 2 and med surg 3, so that would assume fundamentals is med surg 1.
  7. Do not return list

Yeah, one facility I admit I was wrong. I was on my phone in a room before I was about to go home for the day. CNA here, it's agency to work for the facility you pick up. Not full employment. Just being on my phone was the problem.
  8. Do not return list

I have never been asked or told that I can never come back. It gets reported to the agency. Even the agency hasn't told me unless I asked which I thought was strange.
  9. Do not return list

I'm not on here often, but I figured I'd get down to something that's been bothering me. I've been DNR'd from 3 facilities unfortunately. Actually 4. I was wondering if it's like a permanent thing with the agency you work with. It's been almost a yea...
  10. How many more times....

She lectures online due to Covid, but it's not relevant to the content. Our first day she said, "I normally do not teach in class. What I do is I go around the classroom and I see if anyone has any questions to the chapters". She'll say things like "...
  11. How many more times....

This is a very late reply, but I eventually passed my test I think on my second attempt. I do have a question. I'm barely passing peds and some of our chapters are 50 pages long alone. The most I've seen so far. How do you read all of that? Word for ...
  12. Med Surge II requirements

I have a question for nurses and nursing students. I'm taking peds and maternity at the moment, do you guys think it's necessary for Med Surge II? We did pharm and health assessment first semester, fundamentals of nursing second, peds and maternity t...
  13. Night Nursing School

Is there such a thing as night nursing school? Where you can do clinicals at night? Lab at night? Lecture at night? No, I'm not talking about in your home as in online school. I'm having to do a report on professionalism in nursing. one article from ...
  14. History of Nursing Programs

I'm curious how nursing programs have changed over the past 3 decades. How did nursing students find ways to understand the material? Buy a bunch of books with practice questions? Did teachers provide practice materials like practice problems? I've b...
  15. How many more times....

I've known now to prepare reading more. I didn't realize it was so important for fundamentals or nursing school. My CNA school was terrible. The books didn't match the exams. We didn't know anything about critical thinking and our instructor used chi...
