  1. Group chats and cheating?

I have found that those that cheat usually end up failing at some point, either a class, a SIM, a clinical, or the NCLEX. Focus on yourself.
  2. Is it appropriate to "show off" that you are a Nurse on social media?

Let people live. As long as they're not violating HIPAA it's all good in my book. They're proud of what they do and It humanizes the profession. There are other social media posts to gripe about.
  3. Orientation. Advice on precepting

I came online to search for precasting tips and found this post. Everyone's comments will be helpful for me as I am struggling with my preceptee as well. Similar in nature, but he is a new, new grad. I will just have to remain patient when teaching a...
  4. refusing patients due to medical reasons.

As my manager says, "Planet earth is a red zone when it comes to COVID." As such, the hospital I work at will no longer honor "medical exemptions" and everyone was required to return to "normal" duties this past Monday. As long as you utilize proper ...
  5. Nurses, How do you score on big 5 personality

  6. Hitting a wall

This is exactly what I am thinking. I'm often in a patients room and will have the tele tech call me in the room and notify me that the pt is desating. Or I will have another RN come in to tell me. I also do the same. The bottom line is, if I, or ano...
  7. How are your Covid patients treated in your Covid/ICU unit?

Where I am at the docs write specific orders to “bundle care” and “limit time in pt’s room”. We are allowed to answer call lights at the nurses station. We are allowed to call the pts room to check in on them. We are allowed to stand by the door to a...
  8. Nursing informatics and healthcare informatics

I am going to start A MS in Health Informatics program in the Fall. Main reason is I have a BA and an ADN, no BSN. I want to get into the field but didn’t want to spend more money taking extra upper division nursing courses for an MSN w/ focus in Hea...

And now this.... https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/17/politics/white-house-CDC-house-testimony-schools/index.html From the article: More insanity.
  10. Nursing check-in: How are your numbers???

I live and work in Arizona. I'm sure everyone has seen the news re. Arizona. I also happen to work on the Navajo reservation. Which, again, I'm sure you have seen the news re. these two areas. Well, I can say most days our COVID unit is full. ICU has...
  11. Is this bad sign?

Oh yes. I submitted an application in April and got a call for an interview until August. Was offered the position after the interview but didn't start on the job until Sept. 30th. At my previous job I was working w/in 3 weeks. And I was already work...
  12. Help! The teacher's answers are different from mine?

I got 33.33gtt/min. There are 20gtt/ml The volume you have is 100mL which has to infuse over 1 hour. So, there are 2000gtt/100mL. Next we need to calculate gtt/min. There are 60mins/hour. We will infuse the 2,000gtt over 60mins (2,000/60) This come...
  13. Starting ADN Program, Will I Get Hired?

I don't know how it is in Texas, but in Arizona every single one of my class mates (40 in all) graduated with their ADN, passed NCLEX and got a job. Some, while still in school, and others less than 5 months after graduating and passing NCLEX. Many w...
  14. ARE MOST RN SCHOOLS LIKE THIS??

Yes, it's common. Our proctored grades had to be above 76% before our non-proctored grades were added.
  15. I need my instructor

I just recently graduated (Dec. 2017) and have been working for a year now. In my program, during the final months, we were allowed to perform skills with just the assigned RN present. How can one instructor be there for every task, for every student...
