   Sometimes you can thump the air bubbles to either end of the tubing to get rid of them.

   I was referring to the amount being wasted while priming the tube. The 30 ml I mentioned previously was a little over exaggerated. I prime slower when priming any type of added medication as not to waste any.

   This is just with saline. I don't do that with added medication. Should've clarified that.

   Everyone can rest assured that this nurse will not run anything on a peds pt without a pump ever again. And I usually run around 30ml in the iv tubing bag to make sure bubbles are out. I am a new ED nurse, so any other tips would be GREATLY apprecia...

    There was coughing for a few mins. Then he seemed ok. So, should the child be in the clear? I had to leave before he was discharged, but when I left he was ok. just want some peace of mind.

    The iv tubing itself was not primed. It was normal saline that needed to be infused. Careless mistake. Too complacent. I just reread my post. I see how that could be unclear. Did this clarify?
