    Exactly my point in asking lol. It is crazy how it works here. I work in 2 facilities in 2 county's and the procedures are so different.

    We have 2 guards in the Er/crisis unit 24 hrs they are trained in Cpi but for some reason can not go hand to hand that is all staff. I think it is because they are a private contractor.

    we tend to be 1 Rn for every 5 to 6 patients and 2 techs for every 10 patients. We are hospital based and can usually get someone for 1to1 help if needed. Being that we are within the Er we have help for tie downs etc as well.

    IM Haldol and Ativan are our most common for emergency use. Geodon on occasion.

    I have worked acute psych for awhile but have only done crisis based psych not floor work. From talking to friends who work on the floors it seems like it is the same everywhere in most things. I wish you good luck.
