Question: can you do the MDS work from home by computer? If the facility is computerized and the nurse has access from the house, and you get the info you need from the chart can you do the MDS work from home? Thanks for your help here

My facility does not allow that due to potential for confidentiality violations and unsecured networks.

perhaps, if your job is just to input the information into the computer, like a data entry position, then, yes, you could. HOWEVER, since the emplasis on 3.0 is ASSESSMENT, that means the chart isn't your only guide to information, you MUST assess your residents. Then input that information into the computer...

I agree with mds1. The whole point of the MDS 3.0 is being more resident focused. You need to be able to assess and interview the resident.

I think working from home is a possibility and I'm hoping to work from home in the future.

In my city, the Medical Record staff in a major hospital are already working full time from home.

I spend way too much time trying to track down information from different sources to complete the MDS Assessments, not to mention the constant phone calls, interruptions, drama, politics, nonsense, etc., etc., etc., that continue day after day...:twocents:
