Hi Everyone!

Is anyone else going into the 2011-2012 LPN program at Upper Cape Tech?? I just recieved my acceptence today!:yeah: Also...does anyone have any advice for someone entering an LPN program?(Besides lots of studying) Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated.

I got accepted into Harwich too! I am so excited!

Awesome.. I met another women when I did my CPR certification and she is going to Harwich as well. :) How did the orientation go? I had to miss it we had an already scheduled vacation for this past week. I have to meet with them some point this week I hope. Did you get all your financial aid information that day too?

Hi chriscrow! We kind of got financial aid info....she still wasn't helpful. Apparently they aren't even looking at any of our class' stuff until July 1st. The only info Rose gave is the same stuff that we got in our packets.

Has anyone recieved an email about used books?

No! ... but a friend of mine wants to go next year, so I already have someone lined up to buy my books off of me!

Sorry this is so late.. did you get the email with the used books?? I ended up getting about 1/2 from a prior student and then I had to buy another 8 from the 'book store' because they upped the edition. Still saved me about $300 off buying all new. I also have a friend that is going to apply for next year and hopefully she will make it and buy my books from me.. :) Hope you got the used books email and found what you were looking for. :)

finally got all my books ... some prior student some from half.com and amazon.com used... saved tons too. i recommend those websites to all

See I went to half.com, amazon.com, cheaptextbooks.com and by the time I got all the books whether used or new with shipping it always came to such a small savings that I just didn't want to chance it coming from all these different sellers.. and then to not know the condition of the books before getting them made me nervous. I was lucky and found a girl that went last year and bought ALL of her books there are 8 of them that changed from last year to this year.. so I still have to order those 8, I have them in my cart at the 'book store' they recommend but I just don't have the money right now, so I will hope that ordering them on friday will give them enough time to get here, before school starts. The only one I am really worried about is the A&P not getting here in time, but I do have the prior edition and I am reading up on it now to get a 'head start'.

So anyone else thinking about what they are going to bring with them the first day of school??? And when do we get our scrubs that we had to order soooo long ago?? I have to drop off some medical stuff tomorrow with Nancy so I am going to ask some questions then. But obviously we don't need ALL these books at the beginning but I hope they tell us what they expect us to carry, versus what can stay home ya know?? I have been out of school for soooo long I just hope I do okay with all this change :)

the uniforms we get at school... but we only need to wear them during lab and clinical days- not academic... we need our nutrition, fundamentals, A & P, and human growth books. not sure if we need them all everyday, but those are the first semester classes, so i'm bringing them all, at least in the car, if not into class. i think the first couple of weeks is strictly academic

I bought most of mine one amazon.com too and saved a ton of money. Now I just can't wait to start!

was it difficult to get accepted? i have been thinkling of doing the program for years... my youngest finally goes to kindergarten in fall of '12. were there a ton of applicants? was the entry difficult? i am a cna of 14 years and although i always score extremely high in english, math is really tough for me. i am about 13 years rusty! don't know if it is worth dropping the $85 entry exam and application fee if there is a good chance i won't get in... any feedback?

Hi ttcomom4!

I think whether or not it's difficult getting accepted depends on how well you do on the entry exam. There were a ton of applicants. I think it was 200 + people that took the exam, then if you score in a high enough percentile, you score an interview. The exam consists of math/english/chemistry and if you haven't been to school in a while, they offer a review class. I'm not sure what would make it worth it to drop the $85. There's definety no guarantee you'll be accepted into the program. I think it's pretty much like every nursing program, it's competitive. But if you're a qualified applicant and it's what you want to do then go for it!
