hey everyone i am a current pn student in connecticut and i am planning to move to dorchester, ma in about spring of next year. my sister keeps telling me that i shouldhave no problem getting a job in ma. however i think she just wants me there for other reason. i was just wondering if anyone know the current pay rates for new lpn graduates in that area or the boston area. secondly, in connecticut hospitals do not hire lpn's and i just wanted to know if its the same. a couple of new grads that i know who are working in connecticut says their starting rate ranged between $22 - $24 is pay range about the same here or what???

thirdly, what is the job market like here? i know the economy is in a recession right now. how badly is it affecting us here????.......

am i better off staying in connecticut

please help i am so unsure....

patiently waiting for a reply.....

thanks in advance

i believe the beginning pay rate for lpn's in ma is much lower ($15-$16?). if you worked agency then it is in the 20's.

The starting pay is roughly $21-$22/hour here but the market is terrible. There are no jobs anywhere, for LPNs or RNs. I'm traveling to NH for work as an RN because there are absolutely no jobs and the market is extremely saturated.

How far is the travel to NH for you?

A little over 50 miles

My instructors say it can range from $22-$25 and sometimes if you find the right job, up to $30. LTC is the most common line of work around here- although certain hospitals do hire LPN's. I believe, but dont quote me, Mass General hires LPN's...you culd go for dr office, clinics, and I know for a fact the VA's hire lpn's(theres one in west roxbury i believe)....you can always research online before you move and set up some interveiws- i see many ads on southofboston.com and yahoo and all of those sites...anyways, hoped this helped!Goodluck!
