SO. My first "job" as a new grad RN isn't a paying gig.

There are no benefits included.

And you definately dont get a vacation...

But I am so AMPED because I have always wanted to volunteer for the Boston Marathon!:yeah: I have so much respect for anyone who can run 26.2 miles, let alone 13 miles! My question is- What types of things do you think I'll see??

I am guessing blisters, cramps, hyponatremia....fatigue (of course). My tent is called "RN/IV tent" But I have a feeling that I won't be starting IV's since I have only started ONE in my whole life. I am guessing that I can do simple assessments and blood pressures...but I just wanted to be prepared.

Anyone out there volunteer for this? What are you experiences and what did you see? I'd love to hear your stories!!!

I've not had experience with that type of work yet- but just want to say. . . how cool is that!?! Since I'm in California I'll just have to catch it on TV. Congrats and best wishes for a great experience!

There's a marathon this morning in LA. My brothers used to run the Bay to Breakers in their younger years. I've always wanted to do one, but those days are long gone. Be sure to write up a nice little blurb about this to put on your resume now!

EMT style rapid assessments will be the name of the game. Either way a good experience for you enjoy it!
