LPN Program -Traditional College or Voc/Tech School?

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Just looking for any pros or cons for attending an lpn program at a traditional college or vocational school? Any opinions would be really appreciated.

TIA

I believe someone told me that if you take an LPN program at a voc/tech school those credits will not transfer to a college - don't quote me on that though

I've heard that too, hmmm, thanks for the reply.

Donna - The only info I got (when I was looking at South Eastern Tech.) was that if I wanted to go on to an RN program, most colleges can be difficult about excepting nursing credits from other institutions. QC did tell me that they do not accept nursing credits from other schools.

If you are not looking for the RN, then I'm not sure it would matter, as long as you pass the NCLEX.

Thanks for the info. That does make sense. I still haven't received an acceptance letter from QC yet :bluecry1: I am just about positive I will go there if I get accepted. I have spoken with a few people and their opinions are that I should attend QC as well. I would like to pursue the RN further down the road. Hopefully, I'll hear soon.

Donna

I'm sure it will come soon. I didn't get the impression that they were really prompt with them if you know what I mean. You could Admissions to see when the letters are going out.

You definitely got in if you passed the NET and applied. They would have told you if they were full. :wink2:

I was going to wait 1 more day before calling. My son called me and asked if I had heard anything, I told him no, not yet. I went and checked the mail when I got off the phone with him and lo & behold, there was an envelope from QC! I was sooo nervous, I almost didn't want to open it, lol. But I did, and you were right, I did get in!!!:yeah:So do you have to attend the same orientation that I do on March 24th 4-6? I am so excited!!!

Donna

:yeah::yeah::yeah:

Yea! Awesome news! I knew it would be coming but it is still so hard to wait. I didn't get anything about an orientation - I wonder if that is because I am a returning student? I'll call today to find out. Thanks for mentioning it.

Did you get my note on your profile page? I wanted you to know that the summer course registration opens on 10/30. You can do it online through the student website. You just need to get a log on. The instructions are right on the QC web.

Tanya

Thank you so much for mentioning the orientation! I called QC and got all the information (which should have been sent to me before but wasn't). Of course the orientation is the exact same time as my nephews birthday but I will be there.

Now I have to call to set up my shots - fun :chuckle

Thanks, no I didn't get a note then again I didn't know I could check my profile page either, lol. I'm glad I mentioned it to you, I think it's mandatory! Yes, I just came back from the Dr.s trying to set up for Titer and immunizations. After 6 kids, shots are a breeze lol! What's your first name?

Ps. thanks for letting me know about summer course registration, I definitely want to take something to lighten the load in Sept.

Oh, I'm sorry - I thought I mentioned it. My name is Tanya Morrissey. I went to drs. today for sinus infection and got my TB injection and blood taken for titers. I hope I don't need any more immunizations but I suspect I will need chicken pox - I had as a teenager but it was so mild - I had like 2-3 pox. I also have to go back on Saturday to check my TB site. I don't know anyone that has had it so I think I'm in the clear LOL!

I guess now we know how the kids feel - like little pincushions.

How about we sit together at the orientation? We can the old ones in the room :chuckle
