Anyone applying to Simmons College Direct Entry MSN Program 2012?

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Is there anyone out there applying to the direct entry MSN program at Simmons? I will be attending the program beginning this summer (2012). I went to Simmons for my undergrad, so I've been living in Boston for 6 years and am well-aquainted with the area. I currently live in Brighton (about a 15 minute drive from the campus). I would love to talk to anyone applying to the program!!!!

Last year Simmons sent out the decisions in three waves. I guess there were over 300 applications so they just randomly divided the applications into three stacks and sent out the decisions that way. I got my financial aid award package in the mail three days ago, and to be honest I'm a bit overwhelmed/ confused. Is the program really going to cost $82,042 for the first year? I'm kind of confused where this number is coming from--- when I did out the cost/ credit ($1,164) x the number of credits for the first year (35) I got $40,740. Where is this "NEED: $82,042" number coming from!? I don't need on campus housing.

The "need" number should be your school plus cost of living so you can draw loans out for living if needed.

I can give you some tips about things to consider with loans etc. Send me a message.

@wpolorocker, congrats on your acceptance! I finally got my other transcripts in, so now I'm just waiting to hear. Good luck at Marquette!

Has anyone heard from Simmons yet regarding a time frame for the admission decisions? I'm trying hard to wait patiently, but I'm starting to get antsy!

wpolorocker and TillyLaces, did you apply to regular decision direct entry-- the Feb 1, 2012 deadline? Im just wondering because I havent heard anything yet! Hope to hear soon, the wait is killing me~ Congrats to you guys already accepted!

Does anyone know if interviews are part of the admissions process? When I was deciding on which program to apply to, I went to the Dix scholar's accelerated BSN info session, and they said there is an "optional" phone interview you can do that has no bearing on your application status. I don't remember them mentioning anything about interviews at the info session for the direct entry, though. I kinda hope there isn't because I have been a nervous wreck recently waiting to hear back from all the schools I applied to! I don't think I would come across as "sane" at this point. =)

Hi,Yes, I applied regular decision. No, there is no interview. I spoke to someone on the phone today and she said they were planning to send out the rest of the letters next week. There was something weird that happened with my application and so I knew I had been accepted earlier. Basically they had to call me because one of my professors had not responded to an email they had sent, so I had to get in touch with him so they could guarantee that I met all of the requirements. However, I declined since I have already accepted at Marquette. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

I just got my acceptance letter from Simmons today, and I can't even explain how ecstatic I am! I need to take Organic Chemistry at some point before the program, and will most likely take it in the summer cluster (that terrifies me, but I'll do what I have to do!) I was waitlisted at one program, rejected from another, and haven't heard anything from the last program I applied to, so I think I'll definitely be attending Simmons at this rate!

Congrats Hale Bale! I got accepted to MGH Institute and waiting to hear from Simmons. Any day now? I am so anxious!!! I have butterflies everyday!

I received my acceptance to Simmons yesterday and am beyond excited! I will 99% chance be attending starting this summer ( I have two prereqs to take) and I am really really looking forward to it. I originally got into MCPHS, but won't be attending because Simmons is my top choice. Did anyone do their undergrad in Boston?? Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi everyone,

Congratulations to all who have been accepted!! I received my acceptance to Simmons last week and I am extremely excited to join the 2012 cohort (95% sure I will attend). I have to complete the organic chemistry prerequisite and likely will do so during the Summer Science Cluster they are offering.

Are there any applicants out there who will be relocating? I'm getting a jump start on the apartment search so if anyone can offer some insight that would be great!

Can't wait to meet everyone! - amy

Thanks htieuster! Congrats on getting in to MGH! That was one of my top choices, and I was waitlisted. I'm super thrilled about Simmons but I'm dreading the intensive Orgo class I'll have to take =/
