?'s about B-more Pediatric hospitals

U.S.A. Maryland

Hi! I'm a diploma student in my last year in nursing school in PA and I am wondering about a few things. 1) What are average pay rates for new GN's (I have 3 years of "aide" experience at Children's of Pittsburgh and 2.5 in an adult acute care setting)around the area? 2) What hospital is the best to work for? 3) When should I start applying??4) Does anywhere help with relocation expenses?

Thanks so much!!!!!

Hi Becky,

Forgive me if this is a stupid question but will you be getting your ADN, BSN or is this like the old time diploma nurse programs? If it is a diploma I'm not sure what hospitals in this area are using new grad diploma nurses but hopefully someone else will write in.

You probably know there is Mount Washington and Kennedy Krieger which are the big ones that come to mind. Many of the other large hospitals have nice peds departments also. I haven't heard of anyone offering re-location money but many offer sign on bonuses.

Good luck. Jules

It's an old school RN diploma program. My plan is to already have passed my N-Clex before starting though. I'mhoping it doesn't make too much of a difference. After all a ADN is basicly just a few more credits( most of which I probably have from my various escapades trying to figure out what I want to be whenI grow up!).
