I realize the difference between a 2year old and a 23 weeker. In fact my floor often transitions the babies from the NICU to home and I have had the ability to go shadow NICU nurses. And in cases where these beautiful babies will never get home they are often tranferred to our floor in a private space, to allow these families to say goodbye in peace. While I am not sure that the NICU will end up being my home, I do know that nothing ventured is nothing gained. And if nothing else, the experience could do nothing but help me to become that much better of a nurse. Thank you for your response, but I realize that peds isn't always playing with kiddos...

It's an old school RN diploma program. My plan is to already have passed my N-Clex before starting though. I'mhoping it doesn't make too much of a difference. After all a ADN is basicly just a few more credits( most of which I probably have from my various escapades trying to figure out what I want to be whenI grow up!).

Anyone have an opinion about doing floor nursing first vs. NICU/PICU/ CICU???? I know I want to be in Ped's and I prefer younger ped's vs adolecents, but I can't decide on floor or ICU! Thanks for any input!

Hi! I'm a diploma student in my last year in nursing school in PA and I am wondering about a few things. 1) What are average pay rates for new GN's (I have 3 years of "aide" experience at Children's of Pittsburgh and 2.5 in an adult acute care setting)around the area? 2) What hospital is the best to work for? 3) When should I start applying??4) Does anywhere help with relocation expenses? Hi! I'm a soon to be GN (woooooo whooooo!) and my fiance and I will be moving to Baltimore soon. We really would like to find a nice area in the city to live and I have no idea where to even start looking! I'm also looking for any advice on what hospitals are great to work for! I'm hoping to get into a pediatric or neonatal ICU/ intermediate care unit.... Thanks for the help!!!!
