Intro and Questions

U.S.A. Maryland

Hello everyone! I am a student currently at Montgomery College, and I am moving to Frederick next summer. I was wondering if anyone here attends or attended Frederick Community College. I am going to apply for their Nursing program Spring of 2007. I am a part time student because I am expecting a baby in January and I am single. I have 28 credits and a 4.0 GPA, but I haven't finished all my prerequisites. I wasn't 100% sure I wanted to be a nurse until this semester, so I still need to take my A&P and Microbiology courses. Before Spring of 07 I will have all of my prerequisites finished.

Basically, how is the program? How is working in Frederick? I plan on working at the Hospital there. Have any of you tried the distant learning for University of Maryland's RN to BSN program? How did that go? I plan on doing that part time after I get my RN liscense. I'm currently living in Silver Spring and I have only been in Maryland for a little over a year. I would love to hear more about Frederick if anyone is from there. I would also love to hear from other single moms who have been through this. I figured out that once I finish the program my baby girl will be 2. Thanks!

hello and welcome to allnurses.com

it is great to have you with us. enjoy the forums.

FCC has an excellent nursing program. It's hard to get into as there are so many applicants and your GPA has to be pretty high (3.5 or above).

They also have an evening/weekend program which may help if you have kids (although not everything is scheduled during the evenings/weekends). I just graduated from that program and can't say enough good things about it.

Go FCC!

I am starting the second semester in 3 weeks!

They have a great program. you can get your BSN part time through the hospital as like a workshare type thing and it is from Notre Dame College. Frederick is a nice town, compared to Silverspring it is probably cheaper to live but I think it's expensive. The nurisng program is very competitive and you have to really be dedicated to it but it's worth it because I am learning so much!!!!!

Good luck!
